We Are Hiring a WordPress Developer and Marketing Specialist

Position Overview:

ZAG FIRST B2B Marketing is looking for a full-time, fully remote WordPress Developer and Marketing Specialist with 5+ years of experience building WordPress websites, optimizing sites for search (Search Engine Optimization/SEO), and leveraging other marketing tools to drive quality traffic that generates leads for our clients.

About ZAG FIRST B2B Marketing

Headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, we are an 8-year-old digital marketing agency specializing in helping B2B construction, manufacturing, and distribution industry companies generate leads, nurture prospects through the sales funnel, and increase revenue. For more information, visit https://zagfirst.com/.

Our values are everything to us. We are a small team, meaning that we all wear many hats and work closely together. We have a strict “no jerk” policy for both coworkers and clients–we only want to work with people who share our commitment to progress, curiosity, respect, and results. Because life’s too short to hate what you do.

All team members are fully remote, and we provide a MacBook Air, monitor, trackpad, and keyboard. Full-time employees typically work 35-45 hours a week, but work-life balance is extremely important to us. We want you to love your work–but we also understand that work isn’t everything. If you need to pick up your kid from school in the middle of the workday, or take a walk at lunch and work a little in the evening, that’s great: we want our team to work however, whenever, and wherever they can be happy and productive.

Key skills needed for this position

We are looking for someone with:

  •  A “let’s figure it out” mentality. As a small agency, every ZAG FIRST team member works on a wide variety of client projects. We’re looking for someone who is naturally curious and eager to dive in and learn new techniques, software, and best practices.
  • 5+ years of experience with WordPress. We are seeking a team member with extensive knowledge and expertise in WordPress, specifically in creating and optimizing websites for our clients. We are not looking for someone who has used WordPress, we need someone who can make WordPress shine. Please note that while we’d prefer at least 5 years of experience, we are willing to consider candidates with less experience, provided they are skilled, knowledgeable, and eager to learn.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS. This role requires some development using HTML and CSS. We need someone with skills that go well beyond drag-and-drop.
  • Experience launching and hosting websites. This role will require launching several client websites per year. The ideal client will have experience with website launches, data optimization, caching, and managing hosting platforms such as WP Engine and SiteGround, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of SEO. We’re looking for an SEO leader to audit websites, conduct analyses, set strategies to improve search rankings for targeted keywords, and implement changes on our clients’ websites.
  • B2B Experience. Experience designing and optimizing B2B websites for lead generation. Bonus if you’ve worked with manufacturing, construction, or other industrial businesses.
  • Kindness. We care about getting the job done, but more importantly, we care about getting the job done right–with kindness, patience, and respect for both our coworkers and our clients. We’ve worked for huge agencies and Silicon Valley companies, and let’s just say there’s a reason we left to start ZAG FIRST. Don’t confuse kindness with passiveness or weakness – ever.

Primary responsibilities of the WordPress Developer and Marketing Specialist

  • Update existing WordPress sites to add new functionality, improve the user experience, improve search rankings, and increase the quality and quantity of leads.
  • Create new WordPress websites from scratch using standard tools/themes such as Elementor or Avada. We have designers and content people to develop the content, but we need a great WordPress developer to bring the content to life.
  • Analyze websites and develop plans to improve SEO rankings and organic lead generation performance.
  • Collaborate with other team members to create project plans, assign tasks, and complete work on schedule and to the best of our ability.
  • Manage initiatives within the Asana project management software to make sure that all changes, updates, and to-dos are recorded and tracked.
